Good Memory For Stable System

RAM that will run without problems on any MB must be compliant to JEDEC standard for DDR2 / DDR3.
Most important properties of JEDEC RAM are:
- voltage: 1.5V for DDR3 / 1.8V for DDR2
- on-die-termination (ODT) design
- 64Mx8bits for 1GB modules in FBGA / 128Mx8bits for 2GB modules in FBGA

Good RAM has not heat sink because supplied with standard voltage it is not hot.
ODT ensures stable errorless operation on high frequencies

RAM that is supplied with 2.0V or more and has heat sink is only for experienced over clock enthusiasts because do not comply with JEDEC. It is over clocked and causes boot problems, unstable system run and low performance.
Always buy JEDEC compliant RAM if you want to build stable running system with good performance.
Standard RAM will run without problems on all MBs no matter it is not included in QVL
