Display By Violence (dbv) is a simple software tool that can check, change or set windows screen settings. With Display By Violence you can check if
specific display mode is supported or you can change or set display mode that is reported as not supported.
---check option allows you to check is specified mode is supported. It just reports check result without to change display mode
---change option change displayresolution without to save settings. that means on reboot display mode will be restored to saved mode
---save option sets display mode without to apply it. Changes will take place after reboot
If you have problems with display mode, load Windows in save mode and use Display By Violence to set mode you want, then reboot.
Display By Violence does not require install, just extract archive and run
extracted executable file. No settings are stored to your computer, so uninstall is not required
Display By Violence accept text file passed to it as first argument in command line. For example:
dbv.exe "mode.txt"Quotes are not needed if there is no free space in path to text file passed to DBV
Text file must contain desired display settings in following form:
display width/ display height/refresh rate in Hz/color bit depth. For example:
1024/768/60/16Please look in supplied file "mode.txt"
When mode is passed via text file DBV change display mode according to settings stored in text file and exits. This allows you to add DBV to list of start-up programs to set display mode according to your preferences in case if it is not set correctly by some reason. After DBV change resolution you will be able to see desktop and to set windows display settings
